Just last Thursday, 5Olympism went on a class excursion to the Singapore Art Museum along with some other classes. While waiting, we walked to the Fort Canning Park where we posed for a lot of photos. Everyone tried to squeeze in for every shot because those not found in the photo would have some consequences. We walked around the park enjoying the scenery while at the same time waiting for Mr Njoo to call for another photo shoot.
After returning back from our long walk, we went to an exhibit where we could view Singapore's history, the curator provided everyone with a machine called a "Companion" and some earphones. The "Companion" was a rectangular green machine which had numbers from one to ten surrounding a huge button with a "go" written on it. As we entered the exhibit, we were told not to touch anything and that there were numbers written on the floor which we could dial into the "Companion" and it would tell us more about that certain item or place. We learnt a lot more about Singapore's history through that exhibit.
Afterwards, we went on to the exhibit on Pompeii where the volcano Mount Vesuvius erupted. At the entrance there were the corpses of the people after the eruption, they were covered in plaster and they lay in awkward positions. The display also included animals such as dogs and pigs. There was also a video on how the eruption destroyed all the buildings and practically buried the city of Pompeii under ash and pumice.

On Thursday, we went to Bukit Chandu. First. When we reached there, we were divided into 5 groups. Then, we were given a tour of the entire building. We learnt about how the british surrended to the Japanese, and also about how the people of Singapore had to live under the Japanese rule. Also, we saw pictures of how the japanese killed the people who they thought were anti-Japanese.
Not long after, we went to different stations to try out different activities. Most of the activities needed us to use mathematic skills, such as calculation of volume, and measurements. We were given a worksheet that we had to complete by trying out the activities at the stations and then writing down our findings inn the worksheet. Some of the activities were conducted indoors, while some outdoors. In the end, the group that finished the first was given a prize. Although, most of us did not get a prize, we learnt a lot about the World War 2.
