CNY Celebratons '11
Just a few weeks ago, we celebrated CNY. This year the P6s were quite competitive. There were some rumors going around , but just a few days before the judging of the classes and the hampers, everything was sorted out. On the actual day , almost everyone came dressed in their ethnic costumes or in the festive colours. As the celebrations started, everyone got into the festive mood sooner or later. :)We started to sing the CNY songs first. Before we knew it, most of tht boys were singing at the top of their voices. After that, we all watched the interesting lion dance. Not long after, we had some friendly games. Then, came the important part. The results for the class decorations and the hamper making were about to be announced. We all had our fingers tightly crossed. We had tied with 6D for first place! Soon after , as all good things have to come to an end, the CNY celebrations ended.
Singapore Art Museum
Just last Thursday, 5Olympism went on a class excursion to the Singapore Art Museum along with some other classes. While waiting, we walked to the Fort Canning Park where we posed for a lot of photos. Everyone tried to squeeze in for every shot because those not found in the photo would have some consequences. We walked around the park enjoying the scenery while at the same time waiting for Mr Njoo to call for another photo shoot.
After returning back from our long walk, we went to an exhibit where we could view Singapore's history, the curator provided everyone with a machine called a "Companion" and some earphones. The "Companion" was a rectangular green machine which had numbers from one to ten surrounding a huge button with a "go" written on it. As we entered the exhibit, we were told not to touch anything and that there were numbers written on the floor which we could dial into the "Companion" and it would tell us more about that certain item or place. We learnt a lot more about Singapore's history through that exhibit.
Afterwards, we went on to the exhibit on Pompeii where the volcano Mount Vesuvius erupted. At the entrance there were the corpses of the people after the eruption, they were covered in plaster and they lay in awkward positions. The display also included animals such as dogs and pigs. There was also a video on how the eruption destroyed all the buildings and practically buried the city of Pompeii under ash and pumice.

Bukit Chandu
On Thursday, we went to Bukit Chandu. First. When we reached there, we were divided into 5 groups. Then, we were given a tour of the entire building. We learnt about how the british surrended to the Japanese, and also about how the people of Singapore had to live under the Japanese rule. Also, we saw pictures of how the japanese killed the people who they thought were anti-Japanese.
Not long after, we went to different stations to try out different activities. Most of the activities needed us to use mathematic skills, such as calculation of volume, and measurements. We were given a worksheet that we had to complete by trying out the activities at the stations and then writing down our findings inn the worksheet. Some of the activities were conducted indoors, while some outdoors. In the end, the group that finished the first was given a prize. Although, most of us did not get a prize, we learnt a lot about the World War 2.

Toy-making Competition
From the recent toy-making challenge, we realised that 5O had many " engineers" or creative people. Among all the entries, Mathieu and Mark's toy - 'The Random Spinner", won the first prize in class(Which is a good toy for Mr Njoo to choose pupils to answer questions). Their toy has a spinner that can spin between 1 to 36. The other two prizes were won by KC & Vicky and Krtyaka & Nicole. KC and Vicky made a bear that had lights surrounding its head while Krtyaka & Nicole made a boat with a propeller at the back with a light. The top three toys from our class got selected to challenge the other classes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Hope they will win!

Ultimate Frisbee East Zone Tournament 2010
During the holidays, on Monday the primary 4 and 5 pupils from the olympism classes participated in the Ultimate frisbee east zone tournament at White Sands primary. When we arrived there we started doing warm ups, passing the frisbee among us.
The primary 5 team captain did not turn up so we had to play with one less player but we managed it for the first match against Bedok Green primary school. TK had a little trouble beating Bedok Green primary in the first few minutes as we were down by 2 points but we caught up in the last few minutes of the game so we won with a score of 4-3.
Our second match was against White Sands primary and we ended with a score of 10-0 as it was an easier match than Bedok Green since we were already warmed up from that match.
We played an even better match against our 3rd opponent, Loyang primary even though they were a really tall team. We only let in 1 goal for this match so it was rather good.
We played our final and easiest match with Tampines primary school. They kept up a rather good fight in the last few minutes and managed to put in 1 goal.
Results of the Frisbee tournament winners:
Primary 4: 1st place, White Sands primary
2nd place, TK
3rd place, Bedok Green primary
Primary 5: 1st place, TK
2nd place, Bedok Green primary
3rd place, Loyang primary
4th place, White Sands primary

TK 10
TK 10 is the week when all TKP students come to school including P1s and P2s to complete their TK challenge. One of our very first TK challenge is the 10 hour trek. Mr Njoo, Krtyaka, Park Soo Hyun (pronounced as hyuan) and some other SLC and teachers went for their 10 hour trek. It started 2am in the morning of Monday and ended 12pm in the afternoon. The teachers and students were drenched due to the rain and were very tired... But honestly saying, Mr Njoo looked slimmer! O.o
We then painted the toilet doors. A beautiful Merly was on the girls toilet while Lyo was on the boys toilet. While the SLC and teachers participated in the trek, our class spent a lot of time designing the posters while 2 other groups did the painting and touched up the design for the toilet doors. Our toilet doors really looks nice with Merly and Lyo posing on it. Hope everybody likes it.
The next day was Racial Harmony Day ( RHD ) and almost everybody in the class came in traditional costumes. There were Malay, Chinese, Indian and other costumes being worn throughout the whole school. Some of us were chosen to be in charge of our class booth--Chinese calligraphy. We had a lot of young ones ( P3s,P2s ,P1s ) coming to our booth and I think they really enjoyed their time with us. The rest of our class toured around the school, visiting other classes. RHD was truly a colourful and exciting day at school.
The Learning Festival was held over the next 2 days. Our class conducted a variety of science activities on forces. We had 4 stations - the Cycloid, the Hovercraft, the Pendulum and Air Force. The most exciting station was the Hovercraft station..... I think even a person weighing 99kg could stand on " the table of balloons". The TK 10 Anniversary was organised with a great amount of planning and hard work. Thanks to all the teachers and students for enabling the TK 10 Anniversary to be so successful!!! :)
